A QUERY.
(TO THE EDITOR.) Sir,—Your issue of to-day quotes a I warning from New Zealand t" liritisli I investors from die Investors li"vio.v against a projected New Zealand brewery company on the ground that Prohibition hat) a prospect of winning at the poll at the forthcoming elections. The quotation is given extra prominence by appearing in your journal as a leaderette and in large type. That being so is my reason forasking space for a few lines, more especially as it is taken for granted that my trade is Bure to be wiped out in thiß country in a very short time. It is evident tlmt the correspondent's warning iB not bona fide since the vendors guarantee substantial interest to the British investors. That disposes of him by proving his announced motive a fnlse pretence. For myself I Bay that I am not one of the vendors and not to be formed into a compauy. But I have such confidence that Prohibition will not win that scarcely a week passes without ray putting additional capital into my business. What about the fact of your converting the warning into a leader in your own paper? Is it a prophesy by the Stanimhp that Prohibition will win at thejforthcoming election?—l am, &c., Josbph Gattschk, Eagle Brewery. Palmerston North, June 3rd, 1896,
