H|ffiKM SUSPECTED, . . jWTHEPOLiqE. PRESB ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, Tuesday. ; Two fires flits morning,, causing groat destruction of property, are believed to be the work of an incendiary. About 2.30 it was discovered that St. George's Hall, Surry Hill, was on fife, and it was reported that some person had seen a man go round the back and aeji fire to the building. The hall, with, the /Newton Borough office and . five . unoccupied shops, was.totally destroyed. While the tire was blazing another alarm ■was given that a fire had broken out m a house m Randolph-street, off Newton. Road. This place was quite close and several of the Brigade ran and extinguished the flames. They found the fire had been caused by, a bundle of rags . saturated with kerosene. After they left the place the fire a*ain broke out and the building was totally destroyed. This is believed* to be a case of arson, and the police have apprehended the .owner, a carter named McCausland and his wife.
