: The market continues steadily at last week's advanced quotations for grain arid breadstuffs; it is, anticipated that oats must meet'witlfkn'eSrly and" sharp Wily in f price, as the _ Melbourne and Sydney markets are weekly] firming, and qi|otations there have increased during current month from. 3d to 4d per bushel. Ndw Zealand markets are practically guided by those of the other colonies. Flour is still quoted at £11 ;10s to £12 10s here; brtn^ £6 10s ; ppljar^ ; fowls' wheat, almost unobtainable, and what is 'offering meets with ready sale att 4s;; oatmeal hat advanced to £L3 los per toil. There has been some spaeulation m- Derwent potatoes, and considerable quantities are changing 'hands m expectation of. much higher rates ruling shortly, and quota,tipns. range from £3 58 to 24, according to quality. Maize and fowls' barley meet wich but little inquiry at 4s arid . 2s 64 respectiyely. Onions, of sound descriptions, are lightly held, and m consequence extreme rates ! are asked, say from £10 to £12 per ton. Carrots, turnios and parsnips have no demand. Prime Canterbury bacon and. hams (new cure) have opened a£ £d per 1b reduction all round, and rale as follows :— 7d for bacon arid B^s" hams ; cheese maintains last quoted rates, 6^d ; ugalt butter is without any inquiry and nominally worth B£d; fresh do, Is for prime parcels ; eggs are dull at Is 6d per doz, with prospect of a lower price next week. Poultry is ereatlv overstocked at following realisations :— Fowls, 2s 6d to 3s ; geese, 6s ; ducks, 3s 3d ; turkeys, 8s ; per pair. r . ' ->•■-,
