A firs broke out m Karangahape road atabont9.3op.nt: m the Co-operative Company's .grocery store, m the centre of a large block of wooden shops, spreading to Mr George Garrett's butchery shop, which was totally destroyed. The fish; shop occupied by the. Co-operative Company was also barned, and Mr Phillips' baker shop was gutted. The fire originated upßtairs iv a back room of the grocery, where a stove was usedfur making coffee.
