Further details regarding the murder at the Great Barrier state that on Satur day morning last Perm went to Taylor's house, and asked for some butter. Taylor told Him 'tie Could have some, and asked Perm what cutter he was m. Perm told him it was the Teviot. Caffrey, it is said, then walked up and. told Taylor to <( puthiß hands up," and fired one chamber of his revolver, which, however, did not hurt him. Perm then seized Taylor, and, it is alleged, held him while Gaffrey fired three 'more shots, which killed him, one. shot going through the poor man's * head. While this tragic scene was being enacted, the other members of the fabiily, Which consisted of three women and a, boy, left the house, and Perm is reported to have run out, calling Mrs Taylor back, and threatening to shoot her if she did not come. There seems to have been no reason whatever for this terrible outrage. Mr Taylor was one of the most respectable men on the island. ; Superintendent Thomson, on receiving intimation from Wellington, chartered the s.s. Rowena for the i«lan.d,;to convey. the coroner and doctor to conduct the inquest to-morrow. A posse of police also go by the steajiner (fully armed) to arrest Caffrey and his accomplice^ Perm. - Tlie Sovereign .of th« Seas was last seen cruising oflfthe island. From threats made previously, it ap-' pears that the crime bad been premeditated by Caffrey,. who had taken m a stock of provisions for the cutter. He always carried a revolver. There is one girl on the cutter named Beid. and sheiesaid to belong to Giiborhe. Theßowuir leaves at 10 p m.
