(united press association.) Dunedin, Tuesday. The medals and certificates gained by Dunedin exhibitors at the Industrial Exhibition, Wellington, were presented at a public meeting this evening. A resolution was passed urging that the next exhibition should be held m Dunedin. The City Council havo decided to hold art inquiry as to who was responsible for the recent blasting accident, and under whose control the works were. Ch RIBTQHUBOH, Tuesday. William Verrall, an old and respected resident at Papanui, was found dead iv his chair on Saturday evening. He had been unwell for some time past. ' A girl named Brown, six years old, fell into a fire m her father's bouse, at Cust, on Saturday. She was fearfully burned, and there is little hope of her . recovery. s . The Canterbury ..Rugby Football Union will not send a team North this season, owing to the expected visit of the Sydney team, and to the fact that a team has to go to Otago. The Revs Boddingham and Mason, the misssioners who came from England accredited by the Archbishop of Canterbury, have just concluded a successful mission m this diocese. ' T\A farewell thanksgiving service was '. held m the Cathedral today, when there were be- . tween 300 and 400 communicants. The reverend gentlemen return to England shortly. •Mr T. W. She reports unsatisfactory accounts of the state of the country for liva stock, also that Mayor Island is m the same condition. Timaru, Tuesday The Supreme Court' opened: its halfyearly session to-day before Mr Justice Johnston. A. J. C. Irorie, for forgery and uttering, was sentenced to three years' penal servitude, P. Mooney, charged with larceny as a bailee, was acquitted. The bill was thrown out by the Grand: Jury against Riddle for shooting a cow.
