Gods (the origin- and progress of the God-idea m humanity ;) or Gods of the past, Gods of the present, the God of the future." This hcture deals with Gods of savages, Gods of India, Gods of .Egypt, Gods of China, Gods of Greece and Gods of modern "nations ; and indicates the God of the future. The Wellington preis speak very highly of this lecture aa .a masterly, historical and scientific .production. There are a million children m England who do not ai'end school on account of the poverty of their pareaia. It is stated that one of the Foxton butchers haß determined to sell beef at ooe penny per pound should the proposed co-operative butohery company be inaugurated. There was again no nomination received at the time appointed by the Returning officer for the vacancy on the Foxlon Town B iard. This makes the fourth request, and the fifth i 8 now advertised. The ueglect of the ratepayers ' m this matter (says a local paper) is really shameful, and for the credit of the town we hope some person will ba found public-spirited enough to come forward and fill the vacancy. [And yet Foxton would fain become a municipality I Ed. M.D.S.[ : A divorce suit came before the tribunal of Frankfort-on- the-Maiu recently, m which the parties craved for a disolution of marriage on the ground of incompatibility of temper. The judge decreed a temporary separation of the couple for two years, after which they are to recommence their married; life; and if after a few months' experience they find their reunion, a failure, the Court will be prepared to reconsider their decision.
