The granting of loans on the mortgage of freehold and leasehold pronerty m the colony of New Zealand, repayable on 'such terms by instalments or otherwise as may be agreed on with the borrower, and subject to such bye-laws and other regulations ot the Company us maybe made affecting the same. (b). Tlie ■granting' of Joans on the security of sheep, wool, cattle, fhx; agricultural produce, and other personal, property generally; but not "the makinjr of advances or loans on or by discounting bills of exchange or promissory notes, nor the grant-' ing advances' or loans upon any security not herein generally, subscribed as 'a proper- subject for ad--1 vances or loans. •■ - ;, (c). The purchasing, selling,exchangiiig, holding, leasing, and disposing of freehold and leasehold proneriy m the said ;colony. (d). The general principle aimed at is, that thfi interests of all concerned shall be purely reciprocal ; the main jfeatures being,— '• 1. To provide capital whereby residents and others will be enabled to acquire property, freehold or leasehold, m. town or countiy, by means of easy periodjcnl repayments which leave a reasonable margin of profit to the Company, while being amply protected m point of security. 2. To. enable persons .possessed of land to erect buildings thereon, either by progress-payments or m a lump sum, repayable by instalments, or at the expiration of a fixed period of years. 3. To receive deposits, and to afford a safe > and profitable investment both for capitalists and" during accumulation of smaller savings by others. 4. To 'grant loans to members on' the value of their shares; and, generally, to encourage m every possible way — -'consistent with sound security — members m the direction of thrift and!,-inde-pendencc, by enabling them readily to . acquire property, and particularly to ob- ' tain-a comfortable freehold home. 5. It must be obvious to every reai- , dent, and te every observer . of the extraordinary progress of- these localities," that this Company will provide for an , absolute and urgent necessity which exists at the present time: 1 6. It is consequently believed that the residents, and the public genorally, will warmly welcome and support the iad vent, of such, an institution, the first m tho district. 7. Also, that they will appreciate the privilege of obtaining admission as ! shareholders to ;? financial undertaking of this description, at the commencemont of its operations, when neither any largo sum representing paid-up shares, nor the usual heavy premium on such are required, as m the case ot most other financial Companies m the Colony now. cam-ing on business. 8." The Directors will consider each application for shares on its merits, and will-allot accordingly, but they reserves the right to refuse any allotment absolutely if they shall think fit.
