Progress of the Foresters.
The Ancient Order of Foresters can still claim to be the largest friendly society m the world. The estimates for last year "just completed by the permanent Secretary, Mr S. Shawcross, show that on January Ist, 1886, the benefit members numbered 947,077, belonging to 4930 Courts m 294 districts. The increase during last year has been 64 Courts, 13.789 benefit, and 946 honorary m-tnhcrs, 55,321 having joined and "8 937 left .the order for various causes, ot whom 6,600 died. The Court funds amount to £3,313,356, ft andj the district funds to £405;544, making togejher £8,720.200, an increase on the year of £136,035. There are besides 61,937 members, with £73,089 fun-Js belonging to the various juvenile societies, Tnose figures show an increase of 3,210 juvenilti members and £6,313 m the funds, although during the year 4, l27 juveniles were transferred to varib'ii Oourti ai members of tbo order,— Seat tod Bmoex Timtt,
