PALMEBSTON v. MARTON.
This match was played at Marton on Saturday and resulted m a draw neither side scoring. Tho weather was wretchedly bad, rain falling the whole time, the ground m places being completely under water. The first spell was well con. tested, both sides seeming pretty evenly match*}. During the latter part of the game Marton got the ball over the touch line and claimed a try, but as the man -wai off side their empire would , not allow it. The Marton men however kicked at the «oal, but Palmerston took no notice of it, not charging, or defending their *oal »t all; " The vame thus endedr m: a draw. Palmerston played two meu short. Tor Marton— Hole .and Halcombe played iMit, while for Palmerston — Jones, Jackion Ishenrood and Luxforddid best work The first match for the Cup will be riayed on Saturday next at Foxton. A OTactioe will be 'field at Palmerstbn on WednwdftV next at 4 P.m.
