Intelligence has been received to-day from Noumea to the effect, that two French men-of-war left New Caledonia m order to annex the New Hebrides. Great excitement is consequently stated to be prevailing among the British residents of New Caledonia. Ltiojon, June 6. Members of Trinity House gave a banquet last nigh f , His Royal Highness the. The Prince of Wales, m the couree of his speech, extended a hearty ■welcome to all colonists, and expressed a hope that the exhibition would prove the means of strengthening the bonds of union between England and her colonies.
