THE KIMBERLEY.
. •- (united press association.) Wellington, Tuesday. The Premier has received a cable from the Colonial Secretary of Western Australia, dated Perth, May 81st, for ral information. It says there is every reason to believe that Kimberley will prove an extensive e:oldlield. The distance from Derby is 350. * and from Wyndham 300 miles. The former is at present the better route. There are indications of gold about 150 miles from Derby. Drays can travel nearly 300 miles of the distance, packhorses must be used for the remainder of the distance. About a thousand men are known to be en route. It is most essential to avoid hardship and risk that parties should be well equipped with drays, horses, tents, and several months provisions ; for nothing can at present be got except at Derby- and Wyndham. A warden has been appointed . to the field, and works are being undertaken at Derby to facilitate the landing and storing of poods. At present the best route is via Derby.
