The cricket matdh- Australians v. eleven representing Oxford University commenced at Oxford yesterday. There was.a good attendance of the public, though the weather was showery. The wicket was heavy owing to the recent rain,- The Australians went first to the wicket, the highest scores made being Jones, caught 28; Blackham, run out 15, the othera having collapsed. Tho innings closed for 70. In the first innings of the Oxford team all were disposed of for 45. Spoiforth took nine wickets for tiro runs (?) The Australians commenced their second innings, and at the close of of the day's play had put together eight runs for the loss of two wickets.
