London Markets.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agonew Company (Limited) have received the following telegram from their London office, dated 25th inst : — Wool. — There has been considerable private inquiry, and about 8500 bales have been disposed of ; 8000 bales have bsan taken for export. The Continenta demand is good, but the Home trade are purchasing sparingly. There is an active demand on French acconnt, but German demand is moderate. Short staple merino greasy is m demand, and has advanced from. £d to Id per Ib. Scoured merino ha 9 likewise advanced irom Id to l^d per Ib since close" erf last sales. Other descriptions are unchanged. Merino wool is m demand, but crossbred is neglected. The Antwerp sales opened on the 19bh inst., at an average advance of about 15. per cent, on last sales' clos-. ing rates. The present sales are pro gressing fairly well. Wheat.'-fMarket quiet. It has been higher since we last telegraphed, but has again declined. Adelaide is worth 36s 6d per 496H) ; New Zealand do, average quality, 33s (3d to 34s 6d ; Adelaide, to arrive, iron shin, is worth, c.i.f., 34s 3d per 4801 b, February and March bill of lading. Growing crops here are backward, and prospects uncertain. The Concinential crops generally are good, and the reports of the American crops are fair. Tallow. — The market has an upward tendency, and there is a good trade demand for fine and good sorts. Good mutton is worth 23s 6d, and beef, 2ls 6d per cwt. ; . Meat. — Scotch mutton weighing 65ft> to 701 b per carcase is worth 9d per ib ; New Zealand . mutton, same weights, is worth sfd, Pritne New Zealand lambs are worth, per carcase, 7d per ft.
