Special Settlement Association.
At a public meeting m connection with a Special Settlement Association for Paltnerston N, held on Saturday evening last, the following resolution was passed by Mr Linton, seconded by Mr C. Collie, and carried : '* That steps be tnken to try to secure sufficient land for the purpose of Special Settlements somewhere alongside the Wellnigton-Mana-watu Railway line, between Palmerston and Otaki, and that overtures be. made to the Railway Directors and Minister of Lands immediately." About 70 names were attached to a circular representing about 20,000, acres to be attached to the application to the Government. A fuller report of the meeting will appear m our next.
