ANOTHER WARNING.
A Wellington paper quotes extracts from various suurces m reference to the character of the Kimberley country, the new £1 Dorado. It goes on to say : — " From these statements it will bo seen that far more than th-B ordinary perils and discomforts of a new goldfield will have to be encountered by thoss who seek fortune at the Kimberley. Even if possessed of money, the difficulties and dangers will be very grout, while a poor man will hav.e no chauco at oil, It would be madneps for anyoue to go who could land at Derby with under £50 m his pocket, and those who could command that sum would, we think, act wisely iv staying .away. We do nox^feßire to encourage gaiubling of any description, but we honestly believe that those who possess the necessary £50 would do better, if they must invest it m a lottery, to stay Here and put the money on the totalieator at the next race mooting. They -would have, we expect ,just as much chanao of making a •' pile " as by going to Kimberley, and they would not endanger their lives or have to brave tho perils of poisonous insects, snakes, alligators, fever, sun; stroke, thirst, and caunibal blacks."
