r-W& are -informed that any informa. tion furnished by Mr A. Templer, relative to the road line through to Pahiatua, nflpßt b» accepted with a wide margin for inaccuracies, as we learn, on unquestionable authority, that Mr A. Templer never was on the road m question m his life, and can absolutely know nothing of its practicability or otherwise. Any recommendations of his, therefore, must be estimated at their true value, viz, nil. 'He appears to have impressed a contemporary with the idea that he was possessed of local knowledge of the route and district of a valuable and reliable character, whereas, as a matter of fact, he cannot know any thing. whatever °on the subject. It is a pity newspapers are not more careful as to the nature of the news they disseminate, and the sources of information to which they apply. It is rather amusing to read of "much valuable information" having been given by a person who knows as much about the locality with which he professes to have such an intimate pro--i«Bsional acquaintance, as the mac m the moon.
