Assaults on the Police.

Dunedin, Friday Mr Carew, R.M., at the Police Court said, referring to the case m which he sentenced a prisoner to two months for breaking a constable's leg, that he had overlooked a general provision of the Police Offences Act under which the prisoner might have been charged. As he had been practically sentenced to seven months, he thought he was sufficiently punished.
