Village Special Settlements.

R«gulations for the formation of village* special settlements on perpetual leasing have been gazetted. The land to be selected shall be held on perpetual leass for the first term of 30 years, and for n subsequent term of 21 years, without any right of acquiring freehold. The r<?nUl is based on the capital value of the land, and m no case is to be less than 20a por acr-j and no greater area than 20 acres wilt be allotted to any. one applicant. Arrangements wiiJ be made for advancing small sums to assist selectors. The annual rent will be 5 per cent, on capital value, together with 5 per cent, on monejs advanced.
