HONOUR TO WHOM HONOUR IS DUE.
(TO THE EDITOR OF THE STANDARD.) . Sir.— ln reading over the names of officers referred to by Colonel Robert*, I did not notice the name of one whose brave conduct at Te Ngutu-o-Te-Manu was conspicuous m coming to the rescue ot Lieutenant Rowan, who wai wounded while attempting to convey a wounded man to the rear and m coming after to assist m conveying the abovementioned wounded man to a place of safety, he (Lieutenant Hnnter) was shot dead. Sir, as an eye witness to his brave conduct und kind word, to the men, I hope hiR name is not to be for* gotten. My being an eye- witness to tho deaths of the late Major Von Tempskey, Cuptaiu Buck, Lieutenant Hunter, Captain Palmer, and others, I positively assert that the (then) Captain Roberts did not see thn body of tho late Captain Buck until his corpse was carried into tha bush. The first three-named officers were shot m a small clearing close m front of tho pah within 30ft of each other. Apologising for trespassing on your valuable spiice. — I am, &c.
