(lER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Christohurch, Thuwday. The shipment of frozen meat exported by the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company, per the s.s. Rimutaka, consists of 6522 carcases of of mutton, 2136 of lamb, and 240 quarters of beef. The total weight of the shipment is 521,372 pounds. An elderly man named Robert Mcßae, one of the " unemployed," working at the Sandhills, died suddenly while at work yesterday. .-■■■ At a meeting of the Acclimatisation Society yesterday, Mr S. C. Farr- read a prospectus which ho proposes to send round the Colony asking for support m the . formation of a Piscatorial Society. The object is to secure the co-operation of all colonists interested, so that importation of ova of various kinds 'from England, and its hatching out and distribution throughout the Colony, -may be vigorously earned on. Masterton, Thursday. Ihaia Te Whakamiru, a well known Native chief, died on Tuesday night at his residence, Masterton. Auckland, Thursday. Te Wheoro has telegraphed to Sir George Grey, asking him to arrange for a meeting with Tawhiao at as early a date as possible. Sir George has assented to a meeting, which will probably take place Hi Auckland during this week. ' : The prosecution of Edward Moore, coxswain of the Waitemata," for alleged larceny as a bailee, has been withdrawn. The proper remedy would have been a, civil action. I , Nelson, Thursday. His Honor Mr Justice Richmond arrived yesterday, and the Circnit sittings of the. Supreme Court opened. The whole of yesterday has been occupied m the trial of John Pero, for shooting with . intent. The case, which is from Westportj resulted m a verdict of guilty of unlawfully wounding. Sentence will be passed to-day. There is only one other criminal charge, being against Annie Donaldj for forging and uttering a cheque, and a true bill was found. The civil business wiUcenimence on Friday.
