(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION) ' " Napieb. Thursday. Tlie Taupo arrived at 215 this morning. She was met and accompanied to the anchorage by the. steam. launch, Boojnrn, which had gone put half an hour hefore. The Taupo was brought inside and berthed at the breastwork at 9.40 n.in., and was lightened aft and put down by the hend for the purpose of r.rising her stern so that the remains of her broken propeller blades might .be removed and new ones screwed on. An inquiry into the circumstances was held this afternoon before the Collector ot Customs. The evidence taken is to bo forwarded to Wellington. Reporters wr-ro not admitted. The vessel does not leak ; no plates appear to be broken, though her bottom is considerably bulged. She is being lightened aft so that the screw can be got at, and at toon as two new blades are put m she will sail on her voyage unless ordered to re-, turn to Diwedin.
