In consequence of opposition, 'the cable rate between England and America has been reduced to sixpence a word. A desperate attempt has been made by rebels ia Bunnah to destroy the town of Mandalay by fire. Fortunately the British garrison had sufficient warning to prevent the attempt proving success* ful. The Orient Company will tender for the carryiug of the mails under the new Federal Service. The third of the series of wool sales will commence on June 16th. It is believed that an attack on the Turks by the Greeks is immiuont, and that Russia is doing her beßt to hamper the Powers.
