Shocking Accident.
From the Hawera Star we learn that Mr John Scott, of Kaupokonui, has met with a dreadful accident. We gather that he had been into town to purchase some blanting powd«r, and was taking some out to his farm m a bag. While so engaged he was smoking, and by some means, eithor a spark, fell or the pipo dropped, the fira communicated with the powder, and m the explosion Mr Scott was very badly iujare.l. At presentntho extent of the injuries is not ascertained, but it is known th it his arms and face and neck art terribly lacerated. Tho sufferer ia, however, conscious. It seems that Scott was riding on horseback, having the bag of po. viler m front of him, and that somo asht'S from his pipe fell ou to the bag and burned a hole.
