Manawatu Road Board.
SPECIAL MEETING. THIS DAY. Present— Wardens Shelson, Edwards, and Sly. ;• ; : The matter of Mr Sinclair's refusal to accept the Board's alteration of his tender was discussedV : It will : be remembered that Mr Sinclair tendered for" the maintenance of the three roads, viz., Foxton, Rangitikei, and Stoney Creek, and the Board altered his tender so as to be for the two former only. This the contractor has refused, and a fresh tender has been recdiyfid from Messrs Williams and Fpley for the work amount £770. The Board decided to accept their tender. . : . Tiie Chairman pointed out that the contract did not commence until Ist May, and that at present the roads were m a very dangerous state. ■ After discussion it wafl decided that the Engineer should arrange to have any necessary repairs" 'executed at once as extras until date of commencement of contract. The Chairman brought a matter of re--1 pairs required by settlers on Gore's Line, Newbury Road, before the meeting. It was- resolved that Mr Armstrong should examine the road and have matter attended to. The specifications ot work required on Hamilton's Line; were read, and after discussion it was resolved to call for "tenders for the work. No further business was transacted and the Board adjourned.
