They quickly got ,■ their own Road Board, so that their rates should be spent just where they would do the most good, and all on their own roads. They have their school, Ttheir hotel, and their stores and the faith that Pahiatua is destined to oust Masterton from the position ot the , future Chicago of the North ! Outsiders do not clearly -see what there is to support this feeling, but there can be no doubt from the quality of the soil and its situation, Pahiatua will be a very prosperous agricultural and fruit-grow-ing, and probably cattle raising settlement, for nowhere does grass grow more luxuriantly at all seasons than thsre.
