Address to Sir George Grey.
(IBR UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, Wednesday. The public meeting to present the ad - d ress to Sir G. Grey on his 74th birthday, took place to-night at the Opera House. There was a crowded audience, and Majw Waddell presided. On Sir Geo. Grey making his appearance lie was enthusiastically applauded. The Mayor presented a splendid illuminated address to Sir George Grey, to which were appended 11,000 signatures of Europeans, also an address from the- nativest .Some chiefs also addressed the meeting. Sir G.;" .Grey on rising to reply was greeted with cheers; He trusted that what had taken place would stimulate "the youth of the country to do their best to secure the goodwill 'of their fellow citizens', r the noblest reward any public niancoitld receive.
