Manchester Road Board.

An adjourned monthly meeting of this qoard was held at Feilding on Saturday, tho 10th April. Present— Messrs Letlibridgo (m the chair), Bailey and Liuton, . The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. : Correspondence was read as follows : — , FrcnW. Bailey, John Wratt and Ai Goldfinch, settlers on Tnonui-road, offer-; jng to pay the cost of forming the saidroad, irotn the railway-crossing near Bailey's mill to Reid's-line, if the board would refund cest m twelve months' time. The settlers pointed out that they had been paying rates for : eight years, and had nothing done for them. From T. Lowes, with cheque for £46 10s., being one quarter's rent for Gorge ferry. From J. Mishak, Ashurst, asking for permission to fell hush on road-line. From John Cotter, Ashurst, objecting to a gate being erected across the road by Mr Lowes'. From S. Panthurst, applying for payment for felling bush on road-Hue. 'From M. Bezar, stating his inability to metal the Buunythorpe-Ashum-road at the price offered. From W. J. Botting, with account for bush-felling. From G.A.Jackson and D Matbioson, re change of ownership m respect of section 52. From the Property-tax Commissioner, advising payment of subsidy, £380. From G. H. Aldrich, Taonui-road. From Alfred Grammar, with application for slaughtering license. Proposed by Mr Linton, and seconded by Mr Bailey, "That A Grammar be allowed a slaughter licence on section 12, surburban section.'V— Carried. Broposed by Mr Btiley , seconded by Mr Linton, "That a rate of $m the £ on all rateable .property within the Manchester Road Board District be struck for the year 1886 87, to become due.from 3rd April;"— Carried. * ; lie petition of settlers on Taonm road, Mr Bailey supported the offer made m the petition. . ' After further discussion the following resolution was passed. " That the engineer report on the cost of forming a road 12 feet wide, from present formation to Adsett's mill, and call for tenders for formation of same, and that the amount be refunded to the vettlerß eighteen monhs from the completion of the work." . Proposed by Mr Bailey and seconded by Mr Linton", "That the clerk write to Mr Lowes offering to supply wire if he will erect a fence and remove the gates on Ferry reserve road line, Fitzherbert east " : The clerk was instructed to write to Mr Bezar, and inform him that no alteratipn could be made m the offer re metalling T.ioniii road. Resolved, " That the resolution be rescinded re Mrs Gettees ■ fates, and that rates f or the ensuing year and arrears be collected." Resolved, •• That the sum of £10 be forwarded to the Charitable Aid Board for the ensuing year," Account^ were passed to the amount of £480 5s 54., and the Board ad journed.
