Peculiar Case.

(TOITBD PBESS ASSOCIATION ) Christchubch, Friday. A rather peculiar case was heard at the District Court by Judge Ward. H. A. Davis bought 500 shares m the Sontberu Cross Petroleum Company by auction m "February last. He afterwards transferred them to H. A. Montague, when the Company made a call of 6d per share upon the transferee. It we* ascertained that H. A. Montague was* an infant three years old, and therefore* not liable to pay calls. The Company now applied that H. A. Davis' nameshould be placed on the register of : shareholders of the Company on thegrounds that the transfer was invalid.. Judge Ward said it wps quite clear the application should be granted, as Daviswas the person liable, and made the order applied for.
