The Lyttelton Orphanage Difficulty.

1 PRESS ASSOCIATION^ Chbistchurch, Friday. The unpleasantness between the Charitable Aid Board and the master of the Lyttelton Orphanage, Mr Ritchie, still continues. The, master has persisted m holding his office m opposition to the wishes of the Board. In the first instance the Board gave him three mouths' notice, but getting more anxious for him to leave the institution, they decided to pay him salary m lieu of notice. Mr Ritchie deolined to accept the salary, and said he would hold the Board to their first resolution. As, how ever, the Board had appointed his ' successor, what looked very much like a deadlock resulted, and to-day the Beard held a special meeting to consider the result of thoir deliberation and the position of the master. There wtll probably be more trouble. By ton to one it was resolved to summarily, dismiss Mr and Mrs Ritchio from their positions as master and matrpu of the Orphanage, and that they be required to leave within fourteen hours, and, m the event of their 1 refusing to comply, that the Board's solicitor was to take the necessary action to enforce compliance with the resolution. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr Beethara intimated that, owing to the pressure of his deties as Resident Magistrate, he would be corapolled to resign the Chairmanship of •the Boards He said he had hitherto hesitated t$ take this step, because <he thought that if be had done so during the progrem of the Orpiianags af air, bit action might Jiavs bean m\nm*
