The Wesleyan choir are at present preparing the " Hallelujah " Chorus from the Messiah, for Easter Sunday. The illuminated address presented to Mr E. Johnston, by the members of the Dramatic Society, was completed to day by the artist Mr 6. E. Hawkins, the various signatures required having bsen duly affixed. We have never seen a more beautifully executed piece of work, of which both Mr Johnston and Mr Hawkins may well feel proud. A letter received from Home by the 1-iHt mail states that' Mr Viggo Monrad, a well-known, runholder m Pahnereton Nor:h, »vho, with his family, left for Great Britain some months ago, has decided not to return to the colony, and that his eldest son, who has leased the property, is now on his way out to New Zealaud.— Post. Tt is currently stated that General Sir Charles Mitchell will probably succeed Sir George Des Voeux as Governor of Fiji. Th* Hon. Robert Stout is expected to visit. Wanganui at an early date. Tlie Wanganui up-river steamer Tuhtia is again afloat, and has reached the Wanganni wharf. Mess«-8 Siau & McGrath, auctioneers, Woodville, advertise a large number of sheep for sale m various sized flocks. A special notice from the Commercial Hotel will appear to-morrow. Some of the crossings lately constructed by the Borough are being damaged by the reckless driving of conveyances, which do considerable damage to the kerbing and fill up the water courses. An example should b« made of the first case that comes under official notice. A concert and entertainment will be given m the Hall on Wednesday next to enable C. Wilson, the blind man, to be sent to England for treatment. Tho advertisement will appear to-morrow.
