Fatalities in Otago.
(UNITED PKKSS ASSOCIATION.) Dunedin, Monday. A young man named Allensen, son of a commission agent, had both thumbs and two fingers of his.lef t baud blown off While; handling dynamite caps, not knowiug what/they were. At the inquest on the body of A. R. Wdollett, chemist, of Green Island, the evidence of his wifo was to the effect thar the. deceased had gone upstairs ,to sleep during the night, and mi'xod himself a doze of chloralhydrate and morphia. He did n,ot seem, to know what he ; was doing' with pain,' and took thermedicihi? i?) a frequent arid, reckless' manner. She took the bottle from him, as he was then ill. She sent f6r a doctor, and administered doses, bnt> neither was effective. The medical evidence showed that death w v as: paused by an overdose of morphia ond chloralhydrate, and a verdict to the effect was given. ■ .- r<• .• . > •.'-.■
