The ofncers..d re w. , revolvers and fired into the' mutinous mob, and 1 tried m vain; to f6rc'e,thern' to la/ down thieir;- weapons adti retiim to their • place, but the. boys cbntinued their assaults and compelled , th)S officers to seek shelter m the cabins. ! TlVe'j^hg mutineers then lowered the boats, 1- ihitb., Which they crowded, and drif&ff 36wn stteamV; The Clarence's officers, after the departure of the boys, maae"sigiials to the, authorities. on shore, and s soon s'everals boats filled with police put out, arid calleii the boys to surrender. The ybiirigsters deemins: resistance use less, gave up, and were taken back to the ship. The ringleaders . were placed m irons. Eighteen lads : and twp officers reived wounds. Two years ago the lads' confined on the Clarence fired the ship. !
