The month has opened satisfactorily, with brisk business, and trade bills/being i well met. The. produce market remains m much the. same condition as when last reported, and 'but few alterations ar« noted." 'Potatoes are showing; signs iof a downwardtendency, and although prices for>prjme samples are now firm at £4. to £4 ss, we look for lower ''values shortly. A line of wheat, for -milling purposes, has changed hands at 3s 6d per bushel ; cbmmon samples, for fowls, remain at 3f;3d. to 3s 4d ; oats are still firm at/2s 5d to 2s 6d, the old.grain being almost exhausted, and supplies are now excUtsively drawn from the new crop; flour still commands £8 10s to £9, according to brands ; green hams and bacon, B^d all round ; cheese, s£d to 6d ; without any demapd, fA B^d • eggs, yery scarce at is" 6d 'per' dozi, with probabilities of ah early inc^Jase. Poultry is still very low, the highest ruling prices .'being-^—Turkeys, lPs^;, fowli, 3s ; geese, 6s ; ducks, 3s 6dper pair.
