Shocking Murder m France.
A crime is reported to have just been committed at La Roche Chalail, m the Dordogne, France, under very peculiar circumstances. About a year agov a y6iing" woman settled m the place. :_She never wont out of doors, 'except pn distant expeditions, from which she returned apparently much iat:gued,;and she received very few visitors^ From time to. time, an old . man with a lone: white beard called on her. A" few days ago the old man went to her house with a' scythe- m his hand, and the neight>ours remarked that he was staying longer than usual. After some time the noise of a. scuffle was heard, followed by a loud cry. The neighbours .burst into the apartment, and fonnjl.the unfortunate woman lying on the ground in>a pool of blood^ her throat cut by the scythe, whicli had been left m the room. The murderer, had t fled, and all the efforts made to disco vei his whereabouts have so far proved abortive. This mysterious crime has created quite a sensation.
