Sir Patrick Jennings is encountering considerable difficulty in the formation of a Ministry, and has not yet been able ,to submit the names of his colleagues to his Excellency the Governor. Cooktown, Tuesday. Nothing has yet been heard of the twelve persons who have been missing since the boat accident on the lfHh inst., and it is considered certain that they have all perished. London, Feb. 22. The committee which were appointed under the chairmanship of Mr Childers to institute an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the recent riots.in the West End has sent in his report, urffing that a full inquiry be made into the management of the Metropolitan Police Force. In consequence of this report Sir Edmund Henderson, K.C.8., Commissioner of Police, has tendered his resignation of that office. Merlin, Feb. %%. The * German Government has officially informed the British Foreign Office of tlieir assumption of the protectorate. .
