Opening of the Catholic Cathedral at Dunedin.
(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Dunediv, Sunday. Notwithstanding the misty weather a tremendous crowd rssembled outside the Roman Catholic Cathedral to view the procession at the opening. The procession started f rem the bishop's residence m the following oider : — Altar boys, carr} ing incense ; priest, with cross ; 21 altar boys ; five bishops ; archdeacon and Cardinal Moran ; chaplain and secretary. As his Eminence passed, the girls, who were dressed m white, with cardinal sashes, strewed the ground on which he walked with flowers. On his reaching the gate the choir, cpnsistina: of sixty voices and a number of instrumentalists, sang the choir song of welcome, " Behold the high priest." Dr Reynolds celebrated Pontifical High Mass, and his Eminence then preached a dedication sermon, tracing the hisfcpry of the Gatho lie Church, and concluding with a reference to the labours of Bishop Moran. The congregation must have numbered over 2000. The cathedral has cost about £20,000.
