(New Zealand Times.) The. marriage of Mr Arthur ""Edward Russell, of Te" Matai, to Miss Ethel Alice Williams, eldest daughter 6f Mr T. C. Williams, Of' Thorhddri. was celebrated at St. Paul's Church, Wellington, on Wednesday, m the presence o£ a large! assemblage, overy seat m the Church being occupied ; while the. paths along Mulgrave-street were lined with' ladies who could not approach the Church, the centre of the street being filled with carriages. For nearly an hour before the ceremony began, every seat m the Church was occupied, except the front pews, which were reserved for the bridal party and friends: Among those' who were present were his Excellency the Governor and the Countess of Dalhousie, Major and Mrs Jervois, Hon. C. J. Pharazyp and. Mrs Pharazyn, Mr Edward P^arce and , Miss Pearce, Mr W. H. -Levin and Mrs Levin,' and other leading ['citizens, who had seats reserved for them hear the lectern, whtre the' marriage was solemnised according to the old 'rubrical custom, which has been lately revived at Home. The following friends !of ;. the bride and < bndgrpom occupied seats near the altar: — Mrs T. C. Williams (the bride'? mother), Mr and Mrs W. Beethahi (graml parents of tlie bride) .Captain Russell,. M.H.R. (eldest brother i of the bridegroom) ' arid Mrs Russell, Hon. Randall Johnson: and Mrs Johnson, Mr G. Beetham, M.H.R., and Mrs •Beetham, and Mr and Mrs J. N. Wilhams, Hawke's Bay. The bride, accompanied by her father, and- attended I by the bridesmaids, arrived at the church 'precisely .at" the appointed hour, 2 p.m., and were 'met atthe do'ori by -tlio ibridegroom, who was attended by his younger brother, Mr Herbert H.- Russell, as best 1 man. They proceeded down the main aisle, which was covered with crimson baize, and were met near the lectern by ■the Rev J. Still, Incumbent of St. Paul's, who officiated at the ceremony, assisted by ;hiß curate, the Rev. F. Parkes. All the 'responses were given by the bride and' bridegroom m a clear, audible manner. At the conclusion of the marriage ceremony, the bridal party passed up the aisle to the altar, where the Rev. Mr Still delievered a short and impressive admonition. The party having proceeded to the vestry, where the marriage register was duly signed, left by the main aisle, which was strewn with flowers as they passed along. Outside, the crush was vervgreat, and costumes must have suffered considerably m the efforts made to catch a glimpse of the bride and bridegroom before they entered their carriage. A start was then made for the residence of the bride's parents m Hobson-street, where a dejeuner was preared. There was a large numbers of relatives and friends present. Tjie.-heajth of the bride was proposed m a neat little speech by Mr Leviq, and responded to by the bridegroom. The bride and bridegroom Droceedec| by the afternoon train to Masterton,;arid after a short-stay wilUg4 on to Messrs Williams and Beetham's station at Braricepeth to spend tlie honeymoon. They will, proceed afterward to Hawke's Bay to visit friends who reside m that district, and will then go home to the bridegroom's station at Te Matai. They will take with them the best wishes of a large circle of friends for their future happiness. If there is any truth m the old wise saw, " Happy is the bride that the sun shines on," Mr arid ;Mrs Arthur Edward ' Russell should have a large measure of happiness .
