There is an Asylum m .Berlin for overworked and disabled horses, under the managenientjof a veterinary surgeon, a cavalry officer, and a fanner. The grounds have an excellent pasture land, clay and moor patches, water and bathing facilities, &c. . A singular occurrence is reported from Napier, Holland. A haud on board the Union Company's steamer Boojum, is lying m a critical condition m the hospital. He is suffering from severe burns, the appearances indicating that they are oil burns. He cannot tell how he came by his injuries, and some strange reports about the affair are car* rent. . The Napier Herald states, on the authority of a Christchurch correspondent, with reference to the " severed hand mystery," that the hand was identified soon after it was found as the hand of a Bhoemaker who had died at a Volunteer review a few days before. The authorities were informed of the circumstance, bat apparently no steps have been taken to verify the information. Mr Albert Barns, of Wang-anui, m conjunction with Messrs Hogan and Co., have determined to institute periodical wool auctions, and hides and produce sales, m Wanganui. The inaugural sale is announced for the 12th instant The sales will be held at Messrs Hogan and Co.'s wool stores, Taupo Quay.
