. At a meeting of the policyholders of the Government Life Assurance" Asociation,held m Christchurch to consider Mr Driver's appointment, Mr T.,5.. Wes'ton moved a series of resolution's," which were slightly altered and passed m the following form :t-" 1. That the appoint* ment of Mr Driver is to be condemned, on the grounds that it .forms part of newly-inaugurated andextravagant system of management. * 2. That the appointment otMr Driver i$ tqbe v farther condemned, on the ground ttiat it J is expedient , to combine ; office, inanaffeinent with canvassing for business m large centres, and that therefore the appoihtf ment alluded to willresnlt m aisappbintjinent to the Board, and in' lda's ; tb' the policyholderß m view -of* the extravagant remuneration of £1000 per year to> b.e paid."-' 3... "That, m order to -afliord . policyholders ./adequate .representation the Government be requested to alter. the present Act so as to allow policyhoiders - to elect at least one-half of the members of the Board, and. that, all the members of the f Board , except the chairman shall be policyholdera// 4. "jhat m the ' opinion of tins meetiHg . it is desirable that a committee of : btith Houses of 1 Parliament should be appbinted to make 'an ; investigation as ■> the investment o|f ; i funds by the Board of the Government -1 Life Assurance Association, more parj ticularly m ihe 'purchase 'of sites and buildings." The Mayor was requested to forward the above ?to the Government.
