At the monthly meeting held yesterday there were present — Messrs Watt | (chairman), Stevens, Bate, Baker.Bridge, ■ and Key. Mr Boss. Finance. — The treasurer reported that 1 the general account had a oredit of J £1825. The building account was over- • drawn £22373, and had liabilities amounting to" £1163 ; total, £3536. Appointment Committee. — Palmer- ■ ston : Tn accordance with the wish of , Palmerston committes Mr Matheson waß , appointed assistant master. Bunnythorpe : Mr J. H. Stewart was appointed teacher Jackeytown : Messrs T. B. Insoll, H. Coventry, and E. H. Rogers applied for the post of master. Applications to be forwarded to the committee with a recommendation m favor of Mr Insoll. Foxton : Miss Gibbs' resignation was received ; vacancy to be advertised. Sanson : Appointment of .A. A. Peai'te as cadet confirmed. ' ' , Otaki : Resolved that Norman Crabb j receive notice that he would be trans- J ferredtp.the firßt suitable vacancy. . . : . : Terrace Enid.— Inspector Bindon asked if an assistant mistress could be appointed. He believed Miss Gibbs, of Foxton, would suit for the situation. It was resolved to call for applicants. Training College.— The Education Department wrote asking ,f or information as to the fitness of Messrs Tompkins and' another. for entry to the Training College. ' . Foxton School.— The report of the sub-committee appointed to inquire into the condition of the Foxton School was adopted. It revealed a most discreditable condition of things, and entirely supported the Inspector's previous grounds of. complaint.. A summary of the report will appear m to-morrow's issue. , \ „ ; . It was resolved, on the motion of Mr" Bridge, seconded by Mr Bate— That the teacher, Mr, Forsvth, be given three months' notice of dismissal, and that the usual steps be taken to fill the vacancy. Carried unanimously. . Halcombe. — Letter asking for the appointment of a pupil teacher. — Granted. ; : t v •:, . \ \ ' ; ' y '. . -v Ashurst.— Letter stating that Miss Belf had resigned; as pupil teacher, and applying for five months' salary for her: The Secretary stated that no salary was' due, inasmuch as the school was not entitled to a pupil teacher, and the committee had agreed to pay her themselves. ■''.'■ ■'■ .■' ' Board Elections. — The Chairman announced that the retiring members were Messrs Carson, Fry, and Ross.
