Staples Lord Mayor of Loudon, will preside. Among the speakers will be Lord Roseberry, Sir R. ITowler, ex-Lord Mayor of London, aud Mr^Murray Smith, .Agent General for Victoria. Sibbald Currie, a pupil at the Melbourne Grammar School, has been awarded "the John' Watson Scholarship: H.MS. Emerald has been ordered to proceed to America. Queensland Quicksilver Estate Company has been registered with a capital of £400,000/ : .- ■, •. v A Victorian loan of one million and a half will be placed m the market at an early date. Mr Murray Smith, Agent-General for Victoria, has suggested a itcheme relative to New Guinea. The various AgentsGeneral and the Colonial Offices are favourable to the scheme, and they are now awniting the decision of the Co* lonial-G'Vernments before making the | details public.
