The new Wahganui up river steamer Tuhua has had a very satisfactory trial trip. The fire-bell rang out an alarm yesterday, when it was found that the grasß and bush m tho vicinity of. the .Brewery, Rangitikei Line, was on fire, and the fiames rapidly extending towards tho buildings. The brigade turned out promptly and managed to prevent destruction of property. Again this forenoon an ularni was given the imperilled locality being m North-street, near Mr C. M. Ross' rtsidence, which stood m sonsiderable dansrer. A portion of the fencing was destroyed, but the house was saved. A number of citfzens lent willing aid, but the water supply was short, several wells being- quickly emptied. We again impress upon all the utmost caution with regard to the careless use of fire or riSatcJies anywhere outside. , iThe talented Eloivse Juno Theatrical Company will shortly appear before a .Palmer^ton ati^Dce en ptiute^foJrlWani 'ganui overland.
