Native News.

Says the Taranaki News ': — A Waitara gentleman informs us that there is an uneasy feeling m the district on account of the peregrinations of large bodies of Maoris. He also reports that the natives are becoming boastful and arrogant, and that Te Wetere states that the utterances of Titokowaru are " very bad." Te Wetere has received two urgent wires from Wellington, but their purport is at present a secret. The ,lßth of next month, so the natives say, will develop something. The affair may end m smoke, and the public may take the rumour for what it is worth ; there is nothing tangible to go upon at present. Our informant, however, is thoroughly reliable, and we publish his statement m all good faith. . The Opunake correspondent of the Hawera Star writes : — The Natives are again on their travels southward. On Friday, between 300 and 400 passed through the town. Their mode of entry into town was somewhat novel, and it is stated is to be repeated six times, when something marvellous will happen, such as the falling of the walls of Jericho after the Israelites had walked round them seven times. The Natives entered the town from the north m procession, Titokowaru at the head, following him some 290 men, women, and children on foot, three and four abreast, next those upon horses, and afterwards the vehicles m the rear.
