Thomas McEwan was fined 20s and posts yesterday, for breach of the Sheep Act 1884. The presiding justices were Messrs HirsJ; and Mowlem. ; Mr Edward Shaw, says the Napier Tplegrqph, who has filed his schedule m Wellington, iv 1883 was highly corapli- ' monted on all sides m the House for the assistance he gave m committee tp perfect the Bankruptcy Act. His new experience should enable him to suggest further improvements. It is stated that Howard of the " severed hand business." was a resident of Foxton some four or fire years ago. Ithas been decided that the presentation to Bishop Redwood shall not' take place till March, that being the month m which the anniversary of his oonsecration occurs. Mr Wardell was to hold his quarterly Court at Gtaki yesterday. A large nuiri ber of cases were set down for hearing. The N .Z. Shipping Co. have received advice of the departure of the Aorangi from Plymouth,' oh January 16th, at I 1 p.m., for Port Chalmers, via Tenenffo and the Cape of Good Hope. Sir Julius has b&en greatly benefited' by a course of baths at Waiwera and is much improved m health. It is his intention to prolong his stay for a mouth longer.
