Italian Murder Sensation.
The trial of a butcher named Tozzo, his wife, son, and daughter, commenced m Rome, on Deoemb.3.r IQ. Defendants were charged with the murder of Pogeri, also a: butcher. The, -motives for the prime were trade, (jealousy; and. family disputes. ; Poggi was , entrapped into, Tozzo's cellar, ,■ where the ; ; murder was committed, the body of the victim was cut into pieces and the remains were scattered m. a suburban wood. His blood was boiled into black puddings, which were sold m Tozzo's shop. He made a confession narrating the. story m court with a sangfroid that provoked a howl of fury, the audience yelling. 11 Away with (him to, the scaffold \" In reply the murderer tauntingly screamed, " Here lam ! tear me to pieces." The terrible story created intense excitement throughout Borne.. Tozzo and his son Vere condemned to death ; his wife was sentenced to twenty years' imprisonment, and his daughter, to ten years'. ,
