Fire Prevention.
A meeting of Crs to. consider the I above question was held last evening m MrLinton's room. Present — The Mayor and Crs West, Hawkins, Abrahams, T. King,' J. Grace, and ft. M. Snelson. His Worship having explained the.objects the meeting invited discussion amongst those present. Cr West propose! and Cr Hawkins seconded — That, the Council .be recoin- . mended to adopt proposals agreed to at the late public menting. Me Hand Grenades. Resolved — That this matter be referred to the Fire Brieade. . Re Railway Tanks. Resolved— That the District Manager be written to for permission to use the tanks m the Square m case of emergency. Re grazing on streets. Resolved— That the Borough Council be recommended to take steps as soon as possible to burn or remove the grass m dangerous positions m the town. • '-' Resolved— That Cr West and the Mayor be nominated on the committee by the Council. On the motion of Cr Snelson it was resolved that the matter of canvassing subscriptions be .deferred, until the ma-: chines arrive, and that the committee then take tip the canvass and request the local papers to publish names. 1 Re removing grass. On the motion of Cr King it was resolved that the Town Clerk be empowered to put on extra hands to cut the grass if sufficient rain falls to enable it to be done and that the expense incurred to be endorsed by the meeting. ! No further business of importance was transacted and the meeting adjourned.
