They lost 600 men in the rece.nt engagement with the British troops at Gemis. Constantinople, Jvn. 4. .The Porte has «»jtnplained to the British Government of the increase of the British forces in Egypt, declaring that the despatch of additional troops to that country is contrary to the terms of the convention recently concluded between Encknd and Turkey. Sir William White, British Ambassador here, has explained that the situation in the Soudan was such as to necessitate the despatch of reinforcements. It is reported here that Moukhtar Pasha, Joint Commissioner to Es*ypt, considers it imperative to employ Turkish troops in the pacification of the Soudun.
