Accidents and Fatalities.
At Wellington a young inah named Daniel Turner, aged 28, a clerk m the Property Tax Department, was killed by a fa|l Jfrom his horse on Karori road on Satdrday af ternboh. He had been for a ride to Karori with a triend, and when descending Baker's, Hill he was thrown from his horse, receiving 1 , injuries frqnij which he succumbed m two hours. Turner leaves a wife and family at Christchurch, and has a brother residing at Wanganui. — A collision between . a shunting engine and a passenger train was. narrowly averted on the Hutt line on Saturday. The' drivers of both engines have been suspended. An inquiry will be held.— A woman named Mary Anderson, of Wellington, who had her leg brdken m a quarrel some time ago with another woman named McDermott. died m the hospital to-day. The cause of death is supposed to be from alchplic 'poiioning.—^-A fire broke out amongst some gorse m the Botanical Gardens on 'Saturday, and destroyed a young plantation of young firs. The Fire Brigade succeeded m stopping the fire before it reacheSdthe main- garden.— Two vehicles collided on the Island Bay Road, Wellington, on Friday, and the occupants were thrown out. A Mrs Susan Davis had he> thigh fractured m three placas ; WilHain Hutchison, an expressman, had his riglht leg fractured m two places, and Mr C. E.
