THE PURE-BRED CLYDESDALE HORSE Watchman. tTTATCHMAN, foaled Ist November. » V 1878, and is now rising five years I old ; sire Fowler's Wallace, dam Maggie ; is a rich brown, is 16 J hands high, has a clean, llinty bone and nice hair, and is veiy active. His sire, the pure imported Clydesdale horse. Fowler's Wallace, bred by Mr Donald McKinley, W.mldham Hall, near Gloucester, out of a pure Clydesdale mare, bred by Mr J. N. Fleming, Campbelton, Scotland ; her sire, the celebrated horse Lofty Wallace, gained several first prizes before leaving the Old Country. Maggie was bred by Mr Sutherland, Taieri, Otatro, out of a Napoleon marc, by Sir William Wallace (imported). Sir William Wallace bred by William Anderson, Esq., Kirkmiehael, Ayrshire, out of Brisk, by Garibaldi. Asa yearling took first prize at Maybole, Kirkmiehael, and Glasgow, and second sit Ayr. As a two-year-old, second at Ayr and Glasgow, and also secoud at the Highland Society's Show held that year at Edinburgh ; and when only three days landed in Otago took second prize against horses of all agi«s at the Taieri, although only 2J years old.
